Justin Sun announced TRX airdrop for TRON memecoin creators

-

TRON is set to give away 888 TRX to every team that creates a memecoin on its SunPump platform.

This idea comes as the platform faces a huge drop in activity, after an 97% decrease.

Airdrop for memecoin creators

The SunPump “888 TRX” Meme Creator Incentive Campaign began for crypto addresses that launched memecoins on the platform.

The official announcement shared that creators who achieve a 100% bonding curve will be eligible for an airdrop of 888 TRX, which is valued at approximately $135 based on current prices.

The rewards will be sent to the creators’ wallets within 14 business days. Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, advised creators to avoid interacting with any “non-official” smart contracts to prevent scams.

The TRON team also shared that this campaign is part of their effort to provide a healthy environment for memecoins.

They also made it clear that founders involved in rug pulling, which is when creators deceive investors and take their money, won’t be allowed to participate in the airdrop.

Airdrop will help boosting interest?

The interest in SunPump sharply declined after the skyrocketing rise. The activity on the platform is far below the highs seen just a month ago.

On August 21, there were 7,531 tokens created, but only 201 transactions were recorded yesterday.

The platform’s overall revenue from memecoin launches also plummeted from 3.5 million TRX per day to just 78,000 TRX.

15 minute fame?

In total, users have created 86,418 tokens over six weeks of activity on SunPump.

Now the community speculate that this airdrop could help revive interest in the platform and encourage more creators to launch their projects, but it’s just a speculation.

If successful, it might lead to increased activity and investment in TRON’s memecoin ecosystem, but if the decline continues despite these incentives, it may raise questions about the sustainability and the appeal of memecoins themselves in the first place.
