Casio + STEPN GO = 800 NFT sneakers

-

The leading Japanese electronics manufacturer announced a new collaboration with STEPN GO, a Web3 lifestyle app that combines fitness with earning potential.

The partnership will see the release of 800 limited-edition NFT sneakers.

Limited-edition sneakers for the virtual and physical world

As part of Casio’s VIRTUAL G-SHOCK project, this collaboration with STEPN GO will introduce four distinct designs of NFT sneakers.

The sneakers will be available through a four-day raffle event on MOOAR, an NFT marketplace operated by FSL, the studio behind STEPN GO. The raffle will take place on the next week, from August 26 to 29.

These exclusive NFT sneakers are designed with inspiration from Casio’s G-SHOCK brand, specifically drawing from the G-SQUAD line known for its durability and sports-oriented features.

The sneakers will not only have a visual appeal in virtual spaces but will also showcase the G-SHOCK brand’s signature shock absorption, catering to users who engage in physical activities like running.

Move-and-earn, the crypto&fitness hybrid

In addition to their collectible value, these NFT sneakers offer an earn-as-you-move feature. Users who walk or run while wearing these digital sneakers in the STEPN GO app will earn cryptocurrency rewards, further integrating the Web3 ecosystem into everyday life.

STEPN GO already gained popularity as a lifestyle app that leverages the benefits of Web3 technology, allowing users to earn rewards through daily movement and social interactions, such as purchasing and sharing NFT sneakers.

FSL co-founder Yawn Rong highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating that the partnership with Casio is really important for FSL’s vision of driving Web3 adoption.

He noted that the goal is to introduce more traditional companies and intellectual properties into the STEPN GO platform, reaching a wider audience to showcasing Web3 lifestyle apps.

Trained athletes

This is not the first time STEPN has partnered with a major brand. In April 2023, STEPN joined forces with Adidas to launch 1,000 limited-edition Adidas x STEPN Genesis Sneakers on the Solana blockchain.

STEPN has been actively engaging its community with events like the 100 million FSL Points ‘trailblazer’ airdrop campaign, which followed its partnership announcement with Adidas.

Over the past three years, STEPN has distributed a total of 235 million GMT tokens through various airdrop events.
